Human Resources Specialist

  1. Summary/Objective:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated HR Specialist to join our optical retail company as a business partner to store districts. As an HR Specialist, you will play a crucial role in providing HR support and guidance to store districts, ensuring the smooth operation of HR functions, and driving compliance with company policies and procedures. Your expertise in employee relations, HR metrics analysis, training, and compliance will contribute to the success of our organization.

  1. Responsibilities

  • Employee Relations: Act as a trusted advisor and navigate employee relations cases within store districts. Conduct investigatory interviews, collaborate with regional managers and store leadership, and determine appropriate courses of action.

  • HR Metrics Analysis: Dive into HR metrics to identify the root causes of turnover, analyze onboarding feedback, and review exit survey/interview feedback. Use data-driven insights to propose strategies for improvement.

  • Training and Orientation: Conduct training sessions for store managers on HR-related matters, ensuring they are knowledgeable about policies, procedures, and best practices. Conduct orientation calls for new employees to ensure a smooth onboarding experience.

  • Employee Success: Collaborate with store management to ensure new employees are set up for success with proper scheduling and training. Provide guidance to regional managers on accountability, culture, and disciplinary measures to foster a positive and productive work environment.

  • Policy Enforcement: Drive the enforcement of HR policies and procedures, ensuring consistent application throughout store districts. Stay updated on labor laws and regulations to maintain compliance at both state and federal levels.

  • Field Employee Support: Serve as the primary point of contact for all field employees' HR-related inquiries, concerns, and requests. Provide timely and effective solutions, demonstrating exceptional customer service.

  • Separation and Compliance: Assist with separations to ensure adherence to state and federal regulations. Draft separation documents when necessary, ensuring accuracy and compliance with legal requirements.

  • Leave of Absence Management: Navigate leave of absences within store districts and facilitate smooth transitions for team members returning to work. Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and maintained throughout the employee lifecycle.

  • Administrative Support: Make necessary administrative changes in HR systems and records to reflect job changes, promotions, transfers, and terminations accurately. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee information.

  • Performs any other duties as required and assigned

  1. Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).

  • +1 Year of proven experience as an HR Specialist or similar role, preferably in a retail environment.

  1. Skills/Qualifications:

  • Advanced Written and Spoken English

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret HR metrics and identify trends.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to navigate sensitive employee relations matters.

  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at various levels.

  • Solid understanding of HR systems and proficiency in MS Office.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.

  • High level of integrity and commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
